The causes of alopecia are numerous and varied. One of the most common causes of alopecia or baldness is Androgenic Alopecia or as it is more commonly know Male Pattern Baldness. Male Pattern Baldness is believed to be caused by men's inability to deal with the male hormone testosterone. During the Roman empire, young boys would be castrated before puberty in order to make them into opera singers known as Castratos. These boys who grew into adult males never produced testosterone and also never developed alopecia.
